First of all, what's the source on that "report"? A quick look over at ESPN doesn't show anything, and they'd jump all over it if it was legit. I'm not saying that it's impossible but everything from Anderson thus far has been that he wants to stay at Mizzou. I realize it's very easy for coaches to flippantly say those things and not mean them. And I'm sure that'd involve some sort of compensation for him to stay (a raise, basically, like the one he got after Oregon swung and missed), but it's not TOO hard to take him at his word. The two Pressey kids are pretty much family and he's got a team with a boatload of seniors next year. He's also got an AD that's shown a lot of faith in him. Again... these aren't guarantees that he'd stay, but it's definitely stuff you have to take into account. The thing for me is that it's so easy for the media to create smoke here where there may not be any actual fire. Nolan Richardson says it's ok for CMA to take the Arkansas job and CMA has ties = OMG, HE'S AS GOOD AS GONE!phins wrote:Does it make you sad or excited with the new that Mike Anderson is reportedly going to be named Arkansas coach on Monday?
I mean that seriously, from the outside he looks like he's done a good job, but you never know how the fanbase feels.
If he left, I can't see how any Mizzou fan would be excited by that. Quin Snyder wiped his ass with the program and left it in shambles, and Anderson has slowly and surely built the program back up. He brought discipline to a horribly undisciplined program, took them to an Elite Eight, three straight tournament appearances, generally made them a presence on the national scene again and not a Big XII afterthought like the Colorados and Iowa States of the world, and had them floating around the top 25 for three years with a pretty good team returning next year.
Of course, the Mizzou fan base is a very weird one and I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there who'll be happy if he leaves. Those people are pretty [expletive] stupid.
