Torchlight was a lot of fun; as a Diablo 2 junkie, it did a lot of things pretty well. Didn't have the ridiculous replayability of the Diablos though, but otherwise was a blast. I should re-install that sucker.

Anyone have thoughts on how New Vegas compares to it? I never got it, mostly because I was burned out on the first one.

I picked up Bayonetta this afternoon because I wanted a pure action game. Two and a half hours in. I haven't masturbated to it yet.

The new "analog pitching" in The Show 11 is too difficult. I switched the pitching mode to "meter" which was used in games prior.
The game itself is great. Though it's starting to feel like a roster update series because it can't look much better and the animations are pretty good. I guess that's the downside of making a "perfect game" a few years ago.
The music is terrible. Not a big deal. But the process taking songs off my ipod, putting them on a usb drive, plugging it into the PS3 and then uploading it into the game is arduous.

I've still yet to receive my copy in the mail - I just bought a PS3 after Christmas, so this is my first venture into a MLB video game since EA Sports' MLB 2005 for the original Xbox.2nd Timer wrote:The new "analog pitching" in The Show 11 is too difficult. Got my copy of Heavy Rain in the mail - been waiting for it to drop in price for a year. It'd stuck at 50 bucks forever, seemed like. Dropped to 30 finally, forcing used prices even further. With the magic of slickdeals, I jumped on a GoHastings 25% off games, got it shipped to my place for 20 bucks.
It's so damned awesome. Gorgeous graphics, awesome, awesome music/sounds, totally enrapturing. It's a murder mystery, but I've barely even got to the nitty gritty. The controls are amazing. Totally different feel to gaming; it's basically an interactive movie. The first 'boss fight' - which was just phenomenally entertaining, was you as one of the main characters dueling with your young sons using plastic lightsabres in your back yard. Everything you do affects future scenes, apparently, so I'm trying to work the characters into what I envision them being.
3 hours in and I give it a 9.6 so far. I can't wait to play it again post-Paddys Day boozin'.

Re: The Video Game Thread
Wow, it took every part of my pitifully weak self-restraint to not click that spoiler!
I've still only been 3 of the 4 characters the back of the box said there were, so I figure I'm barely even into the game. I told my brother I'd only play it with him, so we could both kind of dictate where the game goes. We had a blast pointing stuff out to each other so far. I hardly play console games, so my reaction time with the button sequencing parts is awful. Bro's better at that stuff, but less patient than I am at trying to click on all the dialog/object options. That first fight against the tattooed buff guy, I got my ass totally kicked because my timing was just abysmal. I was pretty proud of myself for being able to climb up the slippery slope part at the first crime scene.
Game knocks the [expletive] out of my surround sound system. The Heat game through satellite wasn't obnoxiously loud, but switching over to the ps3, my whole living room was rattling during gameplay. It was awesome!

Oh man. Heavy Rain is incredible. Indigo Prophecy back on the PS2 (the spiritual "prequel") was fantastic. I loved the hell out of heavy rain.Maclowery wrote:Got my copy of Heavy Rain in the mail - been waiting for it to drop in price for a year. It'd stuck at 50 bucks forever, seemed like. Was playing Red Dead Redemption multiplayr tonight, and randomly found one of the playable characters is named Jaime Garcia.
He is now my playable character.
