Re: NBA 10-11
With all of the drama with the Pujols negotiations, and all of the drama that has surrounded this team for several years, I got to wondering. Are the Chicago Bulls the anti-Cardinals? No drama, just a group of players that gel together, work hard, and win games. A rising star coming into his own, a consistent and likable coach that communicates effectively with the media, a great television crew. The only sort of drama at all that popped up was Boozer's broken hand, which I'm sure did have a story behind it. But that didn't blossom in to anything. Can you image if Holliday broke his hand at home during the off season last year?
The Bulls are so much fun to watch and follow because it's just about the game with them.

I don't know, I actually enjoyed the drama of Vinny fighting Paxson last year. Surely he's tried to fight Donald Sterling in L.A. this year at some point.jim wrote:With all of the drama with the Pujols negotiations, and all of the drama that has surrounded this team for several years, I got to wondering. Have to give Thibs a lot of credit. I heard a lot of Boston people say Thibs was a career assistant, I wonder where that was coming from. The guy seems to really get it. Of course we haven't seen how he does when it really counts, but I'm confident he would have been a better hire than Vinny the first time around.

I like the Bulls, but Noah can be a card sometimes (mouthing off about Lebron's dance). There was the issue with Rose flashing gang signs in a picture a couple of years ago. There was the whole Lebron saga surrounding the Bulls in the off-season. And their coach hasn't even been on board for a full season, so I think it's too early to determine that he is likeable and consistent. If the Bulls struggle at some point, I expect the haters will be there, just as they are with Larussa.
I think there are issues with every team. And I think the issues with the Cardinals are overblown on this board. When the Cardinals win (as the Bulls are doing this year), I think the drama kinda takes a back seat.

I'm talking just this year- it's been just pure professionalism. And it's not too early for me to say that Thibs is infinitely more likable than TLR.Socnorb11 wrote:jim wrote:With all of the drama with the Pujols negotiations, and all of the drama that has surrounded this team for several years, I got to wondering. Oh, this year has definitely been fun. Like I said, winning cures almost anything. I like Thibodeau, but I think his character will be better judged when things don't go well.
In my opinion, it's not fair to call them the "anti-Cardinals". We hang out at Cardinal message boards where every move is micro-analyzed to the n'th degree. On top of that, basketball doesn't have the same dynamics as baseball....... again, in my opinion.

Re: NBA 10-11
No one outside of Cardinal Nation cares about Cardinal "drama". The general public doesn't even know who Brendan Ryan is. Tony LaRussa is well known, but nobody cares about a DUI unless they're trying to find something to rip the Cardinals about. The only reason they're covering this Pujols drama, and why they're making it seem so hopeless is because it would allow them to push drama to bigger market teams. "Will the Yankees go for Pujols?" God forbid a once in a lifetime player refuses to sign with Boston or New York.
As for the Bulls, they aren't Boy Scouts in recent history. But this year they seem to be listening to what the coach is telling them and incorporating it into their lives. It's refreshing for a franchise to change it's attitude like they did.

Stephen Curry is such a pure point guard. Love to watch him play.

"Incorporating it into their lives" was a cheesy way of saying that they've improved their professionalism off the court. This year there's no drama with the head coach off the court, there's no drama on the court either. It seems like they're just going about their business this year.thrill wrote:I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about.TGantz wrote:As for the Bulls, they aren't Boy Scouts in recent history. Re: NBA 10-11
Ok, the Paxson-Vinny drama aside, they've made character an emphasis since Paxson took over. Hinrich, Jay Williams, Deng and Gordon were drafted partly because they were high character. Getting rid of Curry, Chandler, Artest and Ben Wallace were character-based decisions.
