I think the latter. I highly doubt Milwaukee planned to keep him especially now that they have a trophy.

I think he prefers a longer term deal with less annual rate. Like 3x$15M for a guy who has had a number of injuries might be a better financial decision than 1x20M and he gets hurt again.
