Cancer.
Until very recently I had missed his whole (self-imposed, but not undeserved) cancellation several years ago. Though he probably could have come back from it.
I was of the right age and generation for the McDonalds movie to really capture me. I was also incredibly fit at the time, and stopped eating McDonalds because it made me take weird grease-only poos shortly after eating (a point made in the movie). Lately there’s been some strong theorizing that actually he was drinking a ton and that skewed the results heavily. Makes sense.
I bet that movie hasn’t aged especially well in other ways too. Still, those fries sitting on his shelf and not decomposing for months and months was spooky.
He was an interesting guy, though I haven’t thought much about him until some Super Size Me anniversary stuff started going around. I might have been interested to see what he did in mid-life.
