Hug A News Person Day was part of the most awkward on air segment of my life. Our anchor booked a time slot with Fazoli's because they sent out a PR pitch. That anchor ended up missing work that day, so we had a fill in. The interview was with the manager of a local Fazoli's and the Fazoli's mascot, a giant tomato. The manager had a microphone but didn't want to talk, so it basically ended up a tomato hugging an anchor who knew little about what was going on until about an hour before the show.

But hey, free lunch out of it.
