I'm a little late to the game on this rant and I may just not get it because I'm old, but 5-10 years ago who would take a picture of themselves and broadcast it to everyone you know?

It's a by product of a generation who thinks people actually give a [expletive] about what they are doing. It's why Facebook is popular. The sooner both Facebook and selfies die the better. I have a cousin who must have a 1000 pictures of himself on his phone and I just think what a douchebag egomaniac.

i dont always like the "this generation" label. if the technology wasn't available we wouldn't be dealing with it and "this generation" didn't create the technology (zuckerberg had the resources to start facebook but he didn't create the resources). its a poor way to explain it but i feel fairly confident that if facebook and twitter were around in the 50s, the youth of "that generation" would be posting mindless stuff for other people to see too. and, there are plenty of "older" people who are clearly not in "this generation" who do the same things so i hesitate to outright blame one "generation".

now why they choose to have a duck face or do it at a funeral i dont know...that's a trend. people used to see how many could fit in a phone booth.

i dont know where im going with this.

Chinese fire drills used to be all the rage too. I'm thinking I'd much rather have my teenager posting pix on FB in the safety of our home rather than jumping out of her car in a busy intersection playing musical chairs 5 of her best friends.
