I'm starting to like it. I know it is directly tied into the Blackhawks recent success (thus, more coverage) but, I'm finding myself watching their games on TV and paying more attention to the sport in general. It helps that I am starting to learn the rules and nuances of the game too.
I've always enjoyed going to games, and HDTVs have made it easier to watch....so, I'm in. Go Hawks!
yes, I know this is a Blues dominated board, cut a new fan some slack

Funny you bring this up, but I watched a bit of the Nashville Predators game earlier this week, and read up on the rules a bit myself. I haven't picked up on any nuances yet, since it appears to me to be played toally out of control, but I'm sure it's my ignorance.

It is about as contolled as you can get at 30 mph on a slick surface.
Honestly though, the fleeting "possession" in hockey is part of what makes it great. Most games are within a goal or two, and all it takes is a good play or a lucky bounce on offense, or just the slightest lapse on defense to turn the game on end.
Go to a division rivalry game. If you half-like the sport on TV, going to a game (especially in Chicago) will make you love the sport. In my opinion, the NHL offers the best live experience.

Yeah, I haven't gone to a game in probably 5-6 years. I think I'm due.

Headed to the Blues game Saturday night. Haven't been to a live game since college and haven't been to a blues game since probably 1999. Didn't they win the Presiden'ts Cup (or have the best record or whatever) then lose in the 1st round.

Go to a Detroit or Toronto game. The Original 6 matchups are always fun.

I used to hate watching hockey on tv. I never got the rules. I picked up a used copy of that hockey for Genesis that had fighting (92 or so), and finally figured out what offsides, icing and things like that meant. Pretty much hooked since that.
