trade opinions

Post by clevername »

need some opinions here. This is a 10 team keeper that's in its 5th year. We keep 10 from year to year and have a minor league dynasty system that will probably be modified this offseason (my minor league dynasty allows me to keep Fielder, H. Ram, Braun, and Kazmir for free every year, for instance). Cats are the standard 10 plus OPS for offense and total bases for pitching. Here's my team:

C- McCann
1B - Fielder
2B - Kinsler
3B - Miguel Cabrera
SS - Ramirez
OF - Josh Hamilton
OF - Braun
OF - Manny Ramirez
Util - JD Drew
Util - Kemp
DL - Pujols

SP - Kazmir
SP - Ducherererererererer
SP - McGowan
RP - Street
RP - Ryan
P - Franklin
P - Mike Gonzalez
P - Taylor Buchholz
Bench - Joba
Bench - John Danks
Bench - Hong Chi Kuo
Bench - Scherzer
Bench - Clay Buchholz

Kuo gets mixed in using his dual SP/RP eligibility to combine with T. Buchholz for a pretty nice SP's worth of production. My offense is absolutely sick (like >40 R, >15 HR, > 40 RBI, >900 OPS every week) while my starting pitching is hit or miss and my closers are maddeningly inconsistent.

The trade offer on the table right now is their Justin Verlander and Joe Nathan for my Manny and Mike Gonzalez.

I initiated this with an original offer involving Manny, who've I've been trying to move for the past year as I get younger. Manny's the last holdover for me from the very first draft.

I think he's getting a better deal for right now, but I feel like keeper wise my side may be a bit better long term. It would give me another dependable 1/2 with Kaz (check out Verlander's numbers after his horrendous start, he's been lights out over the past month) and would stabilize my closer situation while not really hurting my hitting too much since I have so much of it.

Opinions? Too much in their favor or can I get value out of this? I've tried shopping Manny elsewhere and just haven't been able to drum up much interest.

Make the move and don't even think twice.

Do it. Just slot in Drew into the OF when Al comes off the DL. Good move.

that was my thought. I had picked up Drew just as his hot streak was beginning, then Albert went on the DL. With him coming off I was trying to figure out how to keep Drew in the lineup and tried exploring the Manny deals again.

I would agree with all, I however have reservations on Verlander.
