If I have a player put on the DL and I pick up a free agent, why can't I start the new pick up the next day?

I think you can. You can't start him the day you pick him up, but you can the next day unless that player had to clear waivers.

I thought there was a time limit. Like if you do it before 2p.m. you can start him, if you do it after, you have to do it the next day. I can't remember where I read that...
