Your feelings on Howard Stern

Post by Spider John »

I may be missing something, because I just don't find any enjoyment in watching / listening to Howard Stern. Am I the only one?

Yeah, I love him, although my signal doesn't come through in my apartment.

I prefer wit over shock, and I hear only the latter when I've listened to him.

You're missing out Rad, he can be very witty at times, and the amount of "shock" is often overstated. The show is too hit and miss for me though.

There are two Howards. I listened to his show for a few years around a decade ago. There's the shock-jock which is what you get when he has women or midgets on his show. There's also a really sharp comedic mind capable of some amazingly witty stuff for someone of his rep. That used to come out more when they'd cover the news or issues of the day. One day I got tired enough of the former that it wasn't worthwhile to stick it out for the latter.

Stern's a bore.

He is witty every now and then-- about as often as the Royals win 20 out of 25 games...

Yeah, I've only caught him when on the road and picked him up on a scan. I guess I caught him with women or midgets, as ghost said. What I did hear wasn't witty, just crudeness for shock value. Kinda reminded me of Bob Sagat's stand-up routine - just talk normally and throw the F-word in every third word to show that you're not Danny Tanner. I don't mind raunchiness as long as it's entertaining and not gratuitous.
