To start the story off about a year ago I bought a 50" Samsung plasma tv to go in our new house. Ever since the day I bought it, it had a slight "buzzing" noise that I thought just had to do w/ normal running noise. After doing some research I found that the "buzzing" noise is not normal and it began to get a bit worse over the course of the year. Eventually, I stopped being lazy and called Samsung to report the problem.

About a week ago a tv repair place that was sent by Samsung came to fix the tv. They first started by replacing 2 large circuit panels inside the tv. That didn't seem to work so they decided that wasn't the problem and that it needed a whole new panel (screen). After getting the new screen installed the repair guy was testing the voltage of the tv. As I'm standing there he touches his positive wire to a "hot" point on the tv, there's a HUGE "pop" and it scares the ever loving #$%! out of the guy. He tries to power the tv on, it flashes a white screen and then shuts itself down. He said that he destroyed the new panel

He calls Samsung and tells them that the new panel he put in was also "defective", sure after blowing the damn thing up it was!! They go through a few codes and they approve me for a brand new tv (updated, nicer model than I currently have) He then puts my old screen back in so I still have a tv and he leaves. So I sit down to watch some tv later that day and guess what, the buzzing noise is gone!!

Oh well, thanks Samsung for giving me a new tv!!

If for some reason they don't take the old one w/ them when giving me the new one it will be up for sale.

I'm not sure they have the brains to do that (because its just some delivery service dropping off the new one).

What would I do w/ the one that's already there?

I am having issues with my HDMI inputs and im fairly certain it's not the cables that are defective.

Anyone with a samsung plasma experienced issues with their HDMI inputs? I've used various different cables and am having the same problem. Not sure how old the cables are as i just had them laying around but it's not like they were getting used so i dunno.

What is the issue?

I'd buy a new HDMI cable from Amazon for under $10 and try that out first. I have a (wow, can't believe it's that old) 8 year old Samsung LCD HDTV and haven't had any HDMI issues yet.

Not a samsung, but I had issues with the HDMI ports on my Vizio that I bought 4 - 5 years ago. I had a friend bring over his flat screen and we hooked it up to all my equipment and it worked. Thus proving it wasn't anything but our TV. They sent a guy out and he replaced a component in the set that had all the HDMI ports on it. No problems since (knock on wood).
