So far this season there are 46 pitchers with at least 27 IP and an ERA below 3.50.
Last season there was 10.
There are 23 pitchers quilifying for the ERA title that have ERAs under the 2.77 that led the league last year including seven with ERAs under 2.00.

April 2006: 30 of 90 (33.3%)
May 2006: 36 of 110 (32.7%)
June 2006: 37 of 110 (33.6%)
July 2006: 20 of 87 (22.9%)
August 2006: 38 of 110 (34.5%)
September 2006: 47 of 102 (46.1%)
April 2007: 43 of 91 (47.3%)
Below 3.50
Obviously run scoring was down in the month, we know that. Still, in any give month you'd seem to expect about a third of the pitchers in the league to have an ERA under 3.50 that pitched 27 innings.

Keep in mind that it was super-cold around much of the nation for a good chunk of April. In such conditions, the advantage is normally on the pitcher's side.

Drop that number down just a little . . . some are in the AL and others in the NL haven't pitched against us yet.
