going with Kip cause he is working with Duncan, and has a much younger team backing him up... there are a few old guys, and there are a few guys who dont move to well. But they seem to be overrall more talented..

Zito is playing in San Francisco, and I think the youngest everyday player is Pedro Feliz who is like 28.... so if people start getting injured they are going to be in trouble, and it will put all that much more pressure on Zito

Kip Wells has far better stuff.

Uh, I'd take the guy that's thrown 1350 innings of 125 ERA+ ball over the last six years. If I had to put money on who will be the better pitcher this year, I'd put it on Zito. But after their respective starts this year, and some homerism, I'd think about it for a bit.

Taking their contracts into account it's a no-brainer though, Kip all the way.

Give me the guy with the talent that's still young.

I didn't say youngest of the two, I just said give me the guy with talent that's "Still young" also. I should've specified it better, though. When I see Zito, I see Mark Mulder in terms of not being what they once were.

Zito could be better this year, but I just don't like the way his stats have been heading. All his peripherials are getting worse, and he's just not been that good the last few seasons.

Zito always starts off bad so I wouldn't take his slow start as an indicator of him having a bad season, it's really the last two-three years.

Ahh, I read that as exclusive of the other one. Apologies.

As far as the comparison goes, Zito has been above-average in recent memory, and at the very least he's been durable. You can't say a whole lot of the same for Wells. And that's not too say that I'm high on Zito. I'm not, like you. His contract is laughable, that's for sure.

I'm just trying to not get my hopes up too much with Kip, but I'm certainly optimistic. It wouldn't completely shock me if, say, Wells posted a 115 ERA+ and Zito landed at about 105 this year.

Kip Wells has had major problems staying healthy.

Zito is a friggin beast when it comes to staying healthy.

Zito still has a ton of talent, he just needs to stop putting pressure on himself thinking about that huge contract.

I love the Kip Wells deal, and would have rather gotten Wells because of how cheap he was. But I think Zito will have a better year. But I bet it will be close.

well, i guess i'm not surprised by the results of the poll.

but still, zito will, in all likelihood, have a better season. he's in a giant ballpark in the NL -- and even better in the NL West, which is probably the weakest division offensively -- and he has a history of success in the AL. As much as I don't like Zito and think he's vastly, vastly, vastly overpaid, he will probably have the better year.

I love Kip too, but I can't honestly think he'll have a more productive year than Zito. Zito can't continue to have an 8 something ERA all year, nor can Kip continue to have a 1 something ERA all year.
