Adam Dunn putting it all together?

Perhaps this is Dunn's long anticipated career year. If Dunn keeps hitting the Reds are going to be a real dark horse in the NLC. Here's his current line:

Holy cow, only a 10.3 LD% and a .321 BABIP to start the year. That's uber-lucky. Of course, last year he had the opposite fortune of having a 23.5 LD% and a .278 BABIP.

Any idea what his stats would be if you normalized those numbers?

Maybe he went back in time and stole Pujols' mojo?
He'll continue to put up monster #'s but I don't see any reason to believe he'll sustain those. The k's will get him.

I don't, but the general formula is BABIP = LD% + 12%. So based on his LD rate, the average MLB hitter could expect a BABIP of .223. Even with as hard as he hits the ball you have to think he's getting "lucky".

my guess is to wait and see. Last year he started off hot as well. In fact he hit 2 homers on opening day last year as well. He seems to do well in the early months and fade as the season goes on.

Three starts into last season Jason Marquis was sporting a 2.83 ERA and many fans were asking themselves, "is Marquis putting it all together?"
Not really sure what to think about Dunn. If you go back and look at some of his monthly splits throughout his career, an average at/near .300 with an OPS of 1.000+ is not unprecedented for him.
I'll say he's just in a hot streak.
