Wainwright through 2 innings

Post by cardfaninfla »

He has 5 ground outs and a strike out. He has given up 2 hits, one a ground ball single the other a double in the air. He got Miggy to hit into a DP after a one out ground ball single in the first. If he keeps guys hitting the ball on the ground he will have a great first year as a starter.

I've been notified by Cubs fans that Adam Wainwright is no good, so I won't bother being intrigued by his fine start today.

Yeah, the guy has nothing. After an infield single he balks the runner to second and the pitcher sac's him to third. With one out and the top of the Florida line up coming, Wainwright bears down and strikes out Reed swinging and gets three straight called strikes on Uggla to strand the runner at third. Yes, instead of pulling a Prior and coming apart after a mistake Wainwright just erased it.

I know there have been a ton of pitching prospects throughout the game, but AW seems like hes the real deal. I dont know alot about his projections and so forth, but he seems like the type who, as a starter will grade out to be a Stud 2 or a mid to low end 1. As a closer I felt he could have been Riveria like. That dominant.

anyone notice that it says that Wainwright, through 4 innings, has thrown 25 pitches, 25 strikes and 0 balls.

He needs to show he can pitch effectively for 200 innings in the big leagues. That's a big test.

You know what would be cool? If we could actually score some runs.

Yeah, especially since Waino got NO run support his last time out, either. You know your offense is bad when they're being one hit by Sergio freakin Mitre.
