With the opening win, the Cardinals moved a .5 game ahead of Pittsburgh for second place, five games behind the first place Brewers.

St. Louis has not done well in day games, currently holding a 10-16 record. They are 10-8 against Central Division opponents.

Cincinnati is 15-12 in day games but just 2-11 vs the Central Division.

JJ out another day; not unexpected especially against a LHP.
