Crooks was in the original lineup last night, but was pulled after pages left hurt?
Crooks is having a fantastic season (.286/.405/.643 with a 1.048 OPS, eight homers already and 18 RBIs), but seems like we’ve had a ton of catchers have great offensive numbers in the minors that don’t translate to the majors, so we shall see
Tie probability (regulation, before extras): 13.7%
Average projected score:
Mariners 4.5 — Cardinals 3.7
Total runs probabilities (vs. the ~8-run betting total):
Over 8 runs: 43.2%
Under 8 runs: 42.9%
Bottom line from the sim: The Mariners are clear (but not overwhelming) favorites thanks to Hancock’s strong early-season numbers and the slight edge in projected offense vs. McGreevy. Expect a competitive, relatively low-scoring game — classic pitcher-friendly afternoon baseball in St. Louis.
Cardinals hope: A stronger-than-expected day from the Cardinals offense flips the script from a comfortable Mariners lean into a near coin-flip game (or slight Cardinals edge in regulation). Seattle's pitching staff has been elite overall this year (team ERA ~3.57–3.93), so the Cardinals would still need to sustain that hot streak through the bullpen to pull it off. But variance in baseball is high — one big inning from St. Louis could decide it.

That's kind of why I thought we would see a roster move for Pages heading to the IL and maybe to bring up a fresh bullpen arm. But nothing yet.
