Re: Random musings
anti-GMOers are every bit as infuriating as anti-vaxxers and climate change deniers.

The issue isn't the health effects, it is Monsanto owning DNA rights and prohibiting farmers from using their own seeds. All over the world.

That makes it a non-issue?Schlich wrote:the % of anti-GMOers that understand that is probably less than 5
Also, what is the endgame? Greater profit? More food?
Are we measuring the nutritional content of that food? What are we measuring? Why hide GMO status?
I think you are asking people to make a leap of faith- yes, a leap of faith- to assume that Big Ag aka Science has their best interest in mind. A little skepticism is not a bad thing.
TBH I feel the similarly about vaccines. Scrutiny should be welcomed. The process should be transparent. The greater good should be a part of the equation.

Re: Random musings
The endgame is more food and cheaper food because people are still unfortunately dying of hunger. Yes we are measuring the nutritional content of that food just like any other food. We measure the same things we measure in all other foods. because it's food. that's it. You hide GMO status because it is absolutely 100% irrelevant to the nutritional value of the food, it could seriously lead to public health issues, and unless we want to go completely Ethical Consumerism which would be an absolutely massive failure (although a worthy cause) then there is simply absolutely no point to it. The process is transparent. Go read the science. It's there and it's accessible.
And then, of course, on top of all of this, there's the simple fact that it's straight up head in the sand blind following the blind shout your opinion till it's right anti-intellectualism. Not anti-science (which it is, but not my point). Anti-intellectualism. Ignorance.
good thing this is in the rants forum eh?
