I really, really like that movie. It starts out being hard to follow. And then you figure it out.
I really liked it the first time. But it doesn't hold up well to multiple viewings.
I can see why that would be true. I don't think I've ever watched a movie twice though. Except Mullholland Drive.
I've seen that many times. Or parts of it, at least.

Do you get up and do little things during the breaks of a game? Perhaps it's the lack of an intermission during a movie that has you antsy.
I don't really. Most of the time I pause it at the start of the game on my DVR, go about the rest of my evening (cooking, cleaning, etc.), then sit down about an hour after start time and watch, skipping through commercials and breaks in play. When the DVR catches back up, I pause it and go do other things again.

I have trouble making it through an entire movie without having to stop it to go to bed, or get up and do something else. I feel way too unproductive if I sit on the couch for over an hour.
So you're not sitting to 2-3 straight hours watching a sporting event. It almost sounds like your attention span is the same for sports and movies, you can just find better stopping points in a game and/or aren't "hurrying up" the movie so you can move on.

BTW, That's how I love to watch baseball games as well. Pause the DVR an hour or so, so that I can eventually sit through the game with no interruption. Shortens the game considerably.

Some movies get better with multiple viewings, to better appreciate the interconnections, etc. Coen Brothers movies are excellent examples. Movies that rely upon a big plot twist as part of it's entertainment value don't hold up as well to multiple viewings. Not that it's bad. Memento falls in the latter category. You watch it again to see what you might have missed out on, but then again, during the first viewing you feel like you've seen the whole movie 2-3 times by the time you're finished.

I'm about 20 mins in and I'm less confused by the second. Looks like it's gonna be a pretty cool movie.

My problem isn't as much with the attention span (though I do have a tendency to fall asleep if I lay on the couch too long) as it is not feeling productive. For some reason, spending 2 hours watching a game doesn't bother me. Spending the same 2 hours watching a movie feels unproductive. Maybe it's because of the feeling that it's my only chance to watch that game, when I could watch the movie any time.

There you go! There's your answer. :D

Hope this was as therapeutic for you as it was for me. What was the question?

I can see how Omaha gets thru that amount of movies. A steady pace over time. Rarely watch regular TV.

Plus, I suspect Omaha's a late-nighter. I'll sometimes start a movie at 11pm on a work-night. I'm not really expending energy or anything, so don't feel real zonked the next day.

I'm on a movie kick now, but overall my average is only 1 or 2 movies per week - so have to be selective with my choices. thus I check the lists and see peoples recommendations (thanks). i can't stand when I've wasted time on a bad movie like "Miracle at St Anna" .

Another thing that gets neglected on my movie kicks is reading. I haven't been doing much of that lately.

This week, I've watched Taken, Se7en, Momento, City of God and Juno. I've seen Juno before though. All of those movies have been really, really good.

I saw "A Haunting in Connecticut" last night. I thought it sucked -- probably the worst movie I've seen in recent memory.
