Both are better against LH hitters(it's basically impossible to be a good LHSP without being tough on lefties), although historically both haven't had deep splits. Lester's cutter and Quintana's change are pretty effective weapons against RH hitters. Lester's splits were pretty severe this year though, so could be something that develops as he ages/declines.

we're still in it baby!

A source with "some Miami ties" told FanRag's Jon Heyman that Giancarlo Stanton is no lock to accept a trade to the Giants.
The source said Stanton had some issues with the Giants' lack of depth and might prefer a suitor that's a better bet to contend immediately. Of course, there's nothing yet to suggest that the Marlins and Giants are close to a Stanton deal, even though San Francisco is the suitor getting the most play at the moment. Heyman reports that the Giants may want to shed some salary in taking on Stanton, perhaps by sending Hunter Pence or Brandon Belt to Miami. The issues there are that Pence has a no-trade of his own and probably isn't going to be interested in Miami, and Belt remains a key piece that the Giants would be ill-advised to simply give away.

Not sure how the Giants send Pence or Belt in the deal. The Marlins are looking to get rid of payroll, not trade payroll.

Perhaps there is a third team in the Marlins/Giants discussions.

Let them have Stanton. Then (they) can send Belt + Ozuna\Yelich here.

he's TOO MUCH to give up, if the giants have to take on 250 mil of stanton salary?

I would not be too quick to dismiss it. Yes, that seems like a paltry return for someone of Stanton's caliber. But, that contract really is MASSIVE. There are legitimate questions about whether the Marlins will be able to get any kind of significant player return for Stanton if they demand that their trading partners assume a lot of cash.

Cards rumors, after all, have centered around Alcantara... who profiles as a relief arm.

Lastly, Panik is a lot like Wong. Doesn't look great on paper, but there's a lot of value in being a consistent 2+ WAR infielder with upside. Those guys are not easy to acquire.

Panik for Stanton is laughable.

Stanton's contract isn't that bad, really. First of all, he could opt out after 3 years (ideally). Secondly, his contract might look like chump change once Bryce Harper is done.

This. Remember when we grossly overpaid for Matt Holliday?

It would be pretty disheartening if it really does turn out to be Panik+Beede+Shaw for Stanton & $45 million. That's a steal. It'd either mean Stanton really doesn't want to be here or ownership got cheap.

Hoping this one turns out not to be true.

918 replies over 24 days means roughly 38 posts per day (lets round up to 40) so that's 4 pages per day.
