State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to tell her the news.
"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"
Green, who has feuded with Palin, brought up the big oil tax increase Palin pushed through last year. She also pointed to the award of a $500 million state subsidy to a Canadian firm to pursue a natural gas pipeline that's far from guaranteed.
House Speaker John Harris, a Republican from Valdez, was also astonished at the news. He didn't want to get into the issue of her qualifications.
"She's old enough," Harris said. "She's a U.S. citizen."
Keep digging up us much negative stuff as you can. You might convince someone. Seriously.
Anybody who says if their daughter was raped and impregnated, that she'd refuse her to get an abortion, no matter what she wanted to do, is absolutely bat [expletive] crazy. I don't need to convince everyone. Everyone will be convinced thoroughly by November.
Wait a second..
She's bat crazy because she doesn't want to kill a child?
Makes sense I guess...wow
I mean I understand that you're pro choice, and I understand that that's a horrible situation, but, why couldn't they put the child up for adoption after it was born? The kid won't know how he/she was conceived, and he/she may go on to do great things..
Sorry, but I really don't think refusing to play God is acting bat crazy
To me that is an incredibly personal question that each will resolve in their own way. That's an answer that has no right or wrong answer on a personal level.
But I have a strong opinion in what governments role in this decision should be.

Sorry, but I think when your teenage daughter is raped and impregnated, that someone should be allowed to have a choice in what they want to do with their situation. How can you deny a person those rights? This doesn't just have to do with HER not wanting to have her daughter to have an abortion if raped, this is her not wanting ANYONE to have an abortion if they're raped and impregnated.
I really don't think that refusing people the right to make their own decisions about their own bodies is right. And if anything, I think that's playing God.
at least now we know that McCain won't make one more word about experience...that's nice...considering we have a 70+ year old cancer patient as our soon-to-be president, and a woman with less than 2 years real political experience under her belt (mayor of a small town doesn't count, I've met too many mayors of small towns) who would be first in line to face the next cold war that the next republican candidacy will inevitable bring us to...
maybe now he can make one ad that doesn't just bash Obama, but actually talks about his politics...

Oh, and by the way; He's only talked to her one single time before picking her and she has no idea what his Iraq policy is and admitted herself that she, and I quote: "Never really pays much attention to Iraq."

Did you miss the ad last night congratulating Obama on his historic achievement?
ya, that was a nice political ploy by McCain...just like this one with the Veep...
but what would you expect when the guy has a Karl Rove (I mean anti-christ with those eyes of his) prodigy managing his campaign...
if there's anything Rove knows how to do it's to get non-thinking middle America to do what he wants...gotta give him that...I only wish there were a guy out there with some human sensibilities that could do the same for Independents or Democrats...
anyway, all that's off-base...
I just wish McCain wouldn't have LIED directly to all of America when he said he would run a clean campaign...American likes to be lied to, though...obviously...
Seriously, that's laughable. You gripe that you want Mccain to run one non attacking ad. I point one out, but it's dismissed as a ploy. Do you think that Obama's all roses? I'm by no stretch of the imagination a fan of McCain, but I think you're holding him to a standard that just can't realistically be met.
there had to be a better option in the republican party than this, right (VP)? I don't really care or follow these things since I made up my mind a while ago, but if someone wants to give me a synopsis of the 237835 pages of this thread that popped up today that would be great.

Synopsis:
McCain is really, really bad. Obama is really, really good.
Vote for Barack and be happy.
You are welcome....
edit - btw, I'm disappointed. You said you were going to read through all of this. When I saw your post I was like "WOHOO - can't wait to see what haltz thought". And then this.

Left wing offense: She's less experienced than Obama, she's served a state that is less populated than 16 US cities, she's mired in a scandal, her own party members in the state of Alaska think she isn't fit to be VP, it's just a pick to pander to Clinton supporters, she admitted herself "She hasn't followed Iraq"
Right wing defense: She's riskyyyyyyy.
