Not expecting a call-up anytime soon, but Baez is on a tear lately. 3-4 so far tonight with two homers.

he started out awful, but now has his line up to 247/330/522 OPS 852 with 13 HRs now
and the majority of his starts have been in CF

Re: Minor League News 2026
Wow, Baez is doing great.
Nelson Velazquez is having a nice May after a [expletive] April. 1000 ops. Maybe he is filler, but who knows.
Crooks and Jordan keep hitting as well
Bernal is also having a nice may. 860 ops.

Re: Re: Minor League News 2026
I know they're likely to let them cook some more, but I could stand trying out Crooks and Baez a little early. Baez is now in a 3 way tie for home runs in AAA.
Thinking ahead and probably very wishfully, you could have
Wetherholt 2B
Herrera DH/C
Walker RF
Burleson 1B
Baez LF
Crooks DH/C (later Rodriguez)
Torres CF (i haven't really seen how he looks out in LF yet)
Gorman 3B
Winn SS
Church
Jordan
a couple Preston Taguchimakers
Assuming Noot is traded either in the mid or offseason. Maybe Blaze Jordan instead of Gorman. I could probably live with that and just spend whatever money they're going to spend on 2-3 pitchers because the minor league pitching situation isn't looking that great currently outside a few guys who still might take a while.

Yeah @ghostrunner , why not? Let the kids play. Keep the ones performing and learning and let the others go.

Re: Minor League News 2026
ehh, he's just now getting confident/adjusted at AAA. I'd be shocked if he's brought up at all this year...
As the article pointed out (we already have 1 Gorman; don't need another)
As the article pointed out (we already have 1 Gorman; don't need another)
For all the excitement around the thunder in Báez’s bat, it’s worth considering other key developmental aspects to his game. Through play Wednesday, his 67 strikeouts are tied for sixth-most in all of the Minors. That comes out to a 32.7 percent strikeout rate, a double-digit jump from where that number sat last season (20.6 percent). Having drawn a walk just 7.8 percent of the time, it’s more of a two-true outcome approach than three at this stage.
