I wonder what stupid military budget bill Congress passed through the next day to take advantage of the drama. I haven't looked, just guessing.
The day after the Oscars, Biden proposed a budget with a record $56.7 billion budget for the Department of Homeland Security.

Ugh. Sorry, won't turn it political. But it's the same playbook every time. We gotta wake up my dudes.

Fwiw, I said they "took advantage" not that they planned it using Will Smith. But nobody will notice that part.

One of these days I'll compile a list of all the terrible things that were passed right as major incidents in both the political and entertainment world were happening. There used to be a website dedicated to it. I can't remember the name, but something to the effect of "While you were distracted..."

You'd be surprised.

When you consider that "news" is happening in entertainment and political world pretty constantly, and bills are proposed and passed on a regular basis, I suspect there's no real correlation unless you want to find one.

I mean the problem aside from what broncos said is that Biden proposed a record defense budget before this happened. Broadly, people just aren’t bothered by it. No distraction necessary.

But yeah, the Trump years were full of this kind of theorizing from liberals, with him supposedly trying to distract from one outrageous thing with another. Rather than him just being both unable to shut up and a crappy person with bad policies.

I had just finished like 2.5 thousand words comparing Tiffany Haddish’s defense of Will to Spiro Agnew. There goes a week’s work! I hope you’re happy.

While I’m providing nothing to this thread let me add this non sequitur. The After Party is really fun. And I thought Haddish was great. I hope she gets to keep riding her wave.

All Jada did was sit and roll her eyes.

Bill Maher said "put on a wig if it bothers you"

Chris Rock's brother called her a b*tch.

Hating women for no reason is alive and well.
