I sincerely thank you both! I know I've ruffled enough feathers on the social forum and that many don't care if I'm here or not, but it's the only place I go to about Cards baseball at all. I don't post as much as I used to, and I doubt that changes, but I'm so happy this will live on.

Col. Jessep: Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

That's kind of where I'm at. I'm pretty sure most on here would just assume I leave and not post a different opinion. The impending end of the forum made me think and I'm pretty sure that several interactions on this forum have made me a more bitter person over the last few years. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue to come around or not. I've only been back posting for a few months after I took a year off, well see. For now I'm going to stick around awhile longer. It really is a great place for Cardinals info, but social draws me like a moth to a flame.

After all that happened over the last couple of weeks, I certainly will try to be more respectful of everyone's opinion going forward. I hope I'm not alone.

I love the differing opinions in social (read: politics thread). the last thing I want is an echo chamber. For example, I may not agree with what they say, but I try to make a point to read the WSJ editorials as much as possible because I appreciate other points of view that are generally well-thought out and well-stated. So please continue to contribute!
