And while the Cardinals won a World Series in 2006, fans of the team have gone through more near-misses in NLCS's and World Series over the last 26 years than anyone else.

1985...three outs from a World Championship.

1987...one win away from a World Championship.

1996...one win away from a World Series.

2000...three wins away from a World Series.

2002...three wins away from a World Series.

2004...four wins away from a World Championship.
The Braves had many more near-misses.

For sure? I quoted that from an article.

Did you tweet him that Albert just got Captain America on DVD?

Yes, it was - twice - the first time for about 45 minutes, the second time for better than two hours. They had to fill with excerpts from "St. Louis Cardinals - The Movie" and Ferdie Pacheco's World Series sketches before NBC finally aired a couple of episodes of "The Cosby Show".
I don't think the Cosby show was on in 1982. If I had to guess I'd say it started around 85 or so.

EDIT - nope, '84

The Braves have had some playoff appearances since 2001 as well. They lost three game 5's in a row in the NLDS in 2002, 2003, and 2004.

These type of "near misses" are going to happen more often in the Wild Card era, since it is easier to make the playoffs. So comparing the number of heartbreaks during this era to previous eras isn't apples to apples, IMO. The teams that get heartbroken the most will be the ones that make the playoffs the most.

What Cardinals won't confirm: Holliday dealing with chronic leg issues. Hand, back are not primary concerns at this time.

Holliday has dealt with significant quadriceps, calf issues much of the season. Left leg apparently larger issue. But wheels need rest.

Cosby Show, Hill Street Blues, they're basically the same show.
