It was pretty amazing.

The heat was awful. Over 100 during the day (we arrived around 2 PM) and felt like it was still over 100 at night. Despite the fact that it was in the middle of the week the place was simply packed. We stayed at the MGM Grand and got a pretty nice deal on a room. We hit the pool first and got some sun, then basically spent the day drinking and walking around, checking out some of the different casinos. We visited Caesar's, the Bellagio, and later gambled at the Riviera when we were checking out the older part of Vegas. My friends aren't really gamblers and didn't want to spend much; all in all I lost about $50.

Didn't really see any shows; we waited in line for the Bellagio buffet for about 45 minutes, but that was the best $32 I've ever spent. Amazing quality of food: Kobe beef, prime rib, braised duck, fine cheeses. After some more walking around and due to the heat, the huge amount of food we ate, and the slow but steady consumption of alcohol through the day, we had planned to go back to the room, clean up, and go gambling for a while but we were completely exhausted by the time we got there. Didn't gamble until the next day and then had to drive back in the afternoon.

Boring? Maybe, but I had a great time. I can see why people only go to Vegas for a day or two at a time; the appropriate term to describe it for me was "Sensory Overload". Still, it's something I believe everyone should do at least once, and I'm sure I'll be back. Next time I'm going in either January or February, though.

*Personally I'd of done a line of blow** and got retarded instead of going to bed, but as Michael clearly shows, there is more than one way to have a good time in vegas

I can't believe I'm the only one that loves O'Sheas. I figured it would be the hands down favorite of those on this board.

I have wasted many hours in O'Sheas at their bar. I'm embarrassed to admit I often grab Burger King from O'Sheas around 4 AM to help fight the inevitable hangover. You have to respect any place that has beer pong and a midget dressed up as a leprechaun giving out shots.

O'Sheas is going to be closed in order to build this horribly bland looking retail space.

I agree with Michael. O'Sheas was a bastion of the strip. They needed one good ol' fashioned grody joint. WTF @ that ferris wheel garbage.

They've been planning that for years; I remember seeing some preliminary plans for their back-of-the-strip project back in 2006, when I was working at the Flamingo. It was about then that Harrahs (now Caesars Entertainment) started buying all those old slummy apartments behind the monorail.

Bland is right. Take away the fake Eye of London thing and it looks just like the kind of crap that's replacing malls all over the country.
