Sad, but I'd bet the same.TimeForGuinness wrote:It wouldn't surprise me.TheoSqua wrote:As in you think his career is over?TimeForGuinness wrote:Perron isn't healthy, I'd be surprised to see him skate again.TheoSqua wrote:Either way it's some good depth. lol, I was thinking 2004-06 ish, but same sentiment.JackofDiamonds wrote:Oh man, we're going to win the 1999 Stanley Cup!
Given our budget and blah blah, At least they got a couple of guys who should chip in 15, and very well could net around 20, while adding size. Arnott and Langenbruner on the 2/3 line and Nickol on the 4th should be >>>>> Sobotka, Winchester, Janssen Crombeen.

Possibly not, but for one year and 2.5 per, its a decent gamble.Hungary Jack wrote:Does Langenbummer have anything left in the tank?

That's the best part about these moves, imo. It's two solid veteran forwards who have potential to contribute and help the team. And it comes at zero long-term financial risk. If they score 70 points and revive their career, they get 2.5m and The Blues have the opportunity to resign them. If they show their age, can't break 20 points, and are utterly useless....the Blues haven't really lost out on much.

I'm not sure how good they'll be (combined, I think Arnott and Langs combine for roughly 25-30 goals), but that's still probably better than what we'd be likely to get from most of our Peoria callups. These are important depth moves. If we have another injury-riddled season, we won't be relying on Sobotka on the top line and Stefan Della Rovere getting significant ice time.

They're Berkman moves. Bring in two very proven leaders to teach the kid core (when do we stop calling them kids?) how to play on an even keel, hope for something on the scoresheet.
Berkman way surpassed my expectations of him, and I could see one of these two guys doing the same. About as risk free as you can go for a signing, I would have been happy with either one of them, getting both is insane.
Throw a C on Backes and an A on Steen, Arnott/Langenbrunner, Jackman.

Also worth mentioning since I didn't see it here...
Langenbrunner was offered a two-year deal by the Blues but turned it down. Arnott has a no-trade clause.
