If you start watching a game, keep your eye on the triangles that the players build. It all really starts from there and it helps you anticipate where the ball will go or where the attack might come from.
This is what I've been looking for from 'serious' fans for years.

Thanks Fat.

I relate soccer to basketball. The two and three man games are very similar.

If someone gets a red card or two yellows, they have to play down a man for the rest of the game, but no power plays in the hockey sense.

there should be, altho, i don't really think it would have much impact on the game.

Could someone explain yellow/red cards? I believe after so many yellow cds you become ineligible to play in the next game. What about red cards?

I don't know if it's come up anywhere else here, but for those that don't know, the US goalie, Tim Howard, "suffers" from Tourette's. Nice article about him HERE.

i think this is how it works:

yellow card means you are officially warned for illegal/rough/unsportsmanlike conduct

red card means you really screwed up and are DQ'd for the day

two yellow cards = one red card = DQ

A red card also means you are ineligible for the next game.

DQ'd for the remainder of the current game AND next game, eh? Stiff penalty.
