The surgery was last October. He is expected to come off the IL May 24; I imagine they will have him do a rehab assignment first to work on his timing at the plate.

I’m not either, but he has to be better than Scott

I think it's more that he's expected back in 30 days or so, so if everything stays on track they're not going to sign a guy for that period. They want him to play and most likely they trade him later. So until then it's Scott/Church/Fermin/Saggese. I doubt they'll be promoting any position players soon unless there's an injury.
