I swear people have gone nuts when it comes to works of fiction
I just read they’ve had this disclaimer on every episode.
I just read they’ve had this disclaimer on every episode.
Since it debuted in March, each episode of Winning Time has included a disclaimer in the closing credits: “This series is a dramatization of certain facts and events. Some of the names have been changed, and some of the events and characters have been fictionalized, modified or composited for dramatic purposes.”

I’ve often wondered what liability films/shows have when portraying real life events or people.
In particular, the movie “sully” seems to completely fabricate the NTSB drama/conflict/accusations which undoubtedly portrays them in a less than positive light and also about 180 degrees off from how they actually operate. Government agency so nbd I guess.

Has anyone watched "The Man Who Fell to Earth"? I watched the pilot, and it feels like a more serious "Resident Alien".
I'm going to stick with it and see how it goes.

How you been liking it? It's been such a slow three episodes with very little intrigue. A lot of the same "tricks" they've been kind of doing doing for years. Shooting shots of like broken glass in the car floorboards, showing you slight previews of the end of the episode at the beginning, etc. I liked when they did the Gene character but I hate that they rely on these BB tricks they've done for a decade. But damn I have loved Bob since Mr. Show days so I'm still watching. I've just been disappointed. I hope it gets more exciting.
Oh, the Howard sub plot is so boring at this point. I wish they'd resolve that or move on. Maybe there's a twist coming with that at the end, post BB/Walt era, but it's meh currently. I rather him feud with the Ed Begley Jr lawyer.

I dig the show overall, but there are things about this season so far that are frustrating. Funny, I was just chatting with @vinsanity about this topic. The Howard/Sandpiper subplot has now been running for all three episodes of season 6 and counting. The details of that case, and why Howard is the stumbling block, are so convoluted and so many years in the past, that nothing really hits. I can't care about the stakes because the storytelling/writing is too obscure. I think this is the curse of the streaming age: Showrunners assume we all watched the entire run of the series last week. Thanks for respecting my intelligence, but help me out here, it's been five years and I have a day job.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑April 27 22, 10:42 amHow you been liking it? The showiness of the camera tricks...at this point, it is what it is. That crew is so lauded for their cinematography, they're gonna keep running with it. It's pretentious and it takes up a significant chunk of each episode's running time. They love nothing more than spending like 3 straight minutes showing Mike methodically doing a physical task, like picking a safe. It gets old, even if it's visually captivating.
I do appreciate the Nacho subplot.

I'm just annoyed this Wednesday so this take down will probably be harsher than actually intended.heyzeus wrote: ↑April 27 22, 11:48 amI dig the show overall, but there are things about this season so far that are frustrating. I do appreciate the Nacho subplot.
Somewhere around season four of Breaking Bad Vince Gilligan decided he wanted to be visually interesting instead of telling a story. The word pretentious is overused and misunderstood by most but the camera work got pretentious. I mean, the fact there's actual articles talking about the "breaking ground" in Ozymandias and why it's important should be proof enough. But now? You have 50 minute episodes, half of which have absolutely no dialogue or plot progression, then it crams five [expletive] stories in to 20 minutes of TV but with no real repetition.
I like a show that respects the audience and doesn't do the replays like The Joker. What does the five minute, speechless and no character opening make just to show raindrops on a piece of glass? Give me story. Give me dialogue. The camera work is beautiful. The characters are deep. I love complex and deep stories but seriously, tell a story don't suck your own dick.

BCS is the only show I am watching right now. And, I really like it but tend to agree. Some of the [expletive] like Mike unscrewing a floor are somewhat tedious.

Re: TV Thread - beware, [expletive] can get spoilery
its probably really hard to make stories involving all the characters of the BB universe compelling so i kinda get the long running storylines that seem pointless.
I was shook by how things transpired in the last episode though.
If we're being honest, this could have been a 3 season show though. I don't mind it the long montages--i've grown to like them actually.
I'm guessing we will be getting an episode dedicated solely to gene near the end of the show. Do we know if gene is after BB or in between BB and BTS?

Gene would be post Walt/Saul/Jesse crackdown. And roughly around or just after the El Camino time period.
The cover of the season is a big hint that Gene steps out of the shadows and gets lured into one last thing with being a lawyer. They show Gene putting on the red jacket.
My guess is Howard or someone from the pre-BB time period comes back into his life. Or possibly Lalo himself, remember, in BB, there's an episode where Jesse and Walt point a gun at Saul and he screams about Lalo. That suggests he's alive in BB time period. Maybe. Gus also visits the nursing hime with Tychus and says literally "every Salamanca is dead" to Hector.
Jesse is in Alaska so I can't see him coming back into the fold. And Gilligan seems to be hellbent on keeping Saul more about Saul's world than the BB ones. Outside of the occasional throw back and Mike/Gus/Salamancas of course.
