I’m still mad the US team convinced me they were continent and then [expletive] their pants and left them right on my living room floor. Fool me every four years: shame on everyone.

But there were a couple great things after the game in revisiting it. Balogun trying to make peace with the waffle coach. He seems like a great kid, and I hope the stink on him doesn’t linger. Also Belgium players doing the official dance of US Patriotism.

That was my line of thinking regarding the usmnt about halfway through the belgium game. But, honestly, even though the result was the same and the tournament ended in an ugly loss in the round of 16; this team showed moments that just looked unlike anything I've ever seen. It's not like paraguay was a pushover, [expletive], they beat germany in a knockout game.

Balogun was undoubtedly the star of the US team both on and off the field. He had to have been involved in at least half the goals and put on a masterclass of how to handle adversity.

The only stink on him is made up, so it can only linger as long as people keep making it up. Dude did absolutely nothing wrong and has handled himself with the utmost class.

Love him or have an accurate view of him, once FIFA’s International Champion of Peace Donald Trump enters the picture, the discussion goes to [expletive]. I’m not sure Balogun will be able to shake the clickbaity nature of the hullabaloo, be it TDS or whatever the pro-MAGA counterpart is, to ever move on—at least from a narrative, media coverage angle. At least in US soccer. Maybe Europe too.

I suppose athletes are probably getting pretty good at tuning that stuff out. I’ll be annoyed at least.

I loved the videos you posted above, AW. And I don't follow soccer closely enough to know if our guy deserved a red card or not. I know most people said he didn't.

But I agree with whoever it was that said it's not a good look for Trump to push around the people running the tournament. You came in here and claimed "TDS". What did you expect the reaction to be?
