And it's Thorburn on a 2-year deal. I don't see the need for an enforcer.

Thornburn... well, that's unneccesary.

They also added Beau Bennett. I wish it was a top six forward but I guess Bennett is at least a useful grinder

Re: 2017-2018 Blues (Hockey) Season
Army said (via article on Blues website) that these were for depth. Kids will play, but that the kids in the AHL are really inexperienced, and they don't want to call guys up too early in case of injuries.
If that's actually true, then fine, whatever. If Thornburn or Bennett get lots of time over Barbashev, Sanford or Sundqvist, (assuming their play isn't awful) I'll be unhappy.
We'll see how it shakes out.

Bennett is going to play I bet (at least for the games he's healthy). He's the only forward we have who shoots right handed besides Brodziak. Thorburn really shouldn't play ever but ENFORCERS.
I bet Sanford starts in the AHL. Wouldn't be super shocked if Barbashev did. You've basically got Brodziak, Berglund when he comes back, Sobotka, Sundqvist, Bennett, Paajarvi, Jaskin and Thorburn rotating out the bottom 6.

To be fair, I don't really know if Barbashev or Sanford has shown enough that they're ready for the NHL, (a disadvantage of listening to radio over watching the game) or if the AHL is better for them. As long as they are getting the ice time they need, then fine I guess.

So I guess there may be some more room to work with once the season starts.

But if/when they get called up, they'd count against the cap, right?MrCrowesGarden wrote: So I guess there may be some more room to work with once the season starts.

5 years, $27.5 million for Parayko. Glad it isn't a bridge deal, would've liked a 7th or 8th year but 55 likely didn't want.
