If they don't draft a WR at #14 its gonna be a long ride to the #47 pick. They need a receiver with speed (who can catch), and no one knows how much speed Avery will retain after his surgery. You either have to take a WR with your first rounder in this draft, or be prepared to use it in next years draft. Thus, draft a WR, OLB, DE, CB. Sign Owen Daniels at TE. If Shurmur is going to be conservative get him a good TE. I don't think you have to worry about Jackson for another two years. He might regress a little in 2012, but I don't think he'll fall off a cliff like a speedy back. Get an aged RB off the FA list to backup Jackson for the next two years until the 2013 draft.
The Rams don't need a TE. They were getting average production from 3 TEs(Fells, Michael H. and Bajema). Bajema and Fells are FAs, IIRC, so drafting one in the middle of the draft wouldn't be a bad thing. I'd rather the Rams get a young RB(like Devine or Thomas), than one who has been in the league for a few years.
Plus, dont forget they drafted TE Fendi Onobun last year, who is a project, but physically could be a beast if he can learn the TE position.
I think the chances are better that Fendi gets a Olympic bobsledding gold than becomes a Pro Bowl TE. Just because Gates and Gonzalez played college BB ...
Well regardless if he ever figures it out or not, hes still one more TE that the Rams have on the roster and considering they used a draft pick for him just a year ago, I dont think they are going to give up and take another TE with Fells, Illinois Mike and Bajema already on the roster.
In other news, what the hell happened with Mardi Gilyard???
RT @MaryKayCabot: Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to interview with Browns on Thursday. ... He might be The Favorite.
As much as we criticize Shurmur, he's done a decent job with the offense. Shurmur was one of the reasons why the offense increased their points per game average by about a TD and their scoring total by over 100 points. If Shurmur leave, I won't be happy(even though a guy like Childress could replace him).
Shurmer reminds me of an Andy Murray type. Great at getting the team organized and in the right direction, but not the sort of person you want to make the team elite. His playcalling was just too slow to adjust and too conservative imo.
I appreciate what he's done, but I won't be terribly upset if he leaves and the team replaces him with a more aggressive minded OC.

I'd want Shurmur to be with Bradford for than a year, though. Changing coordinators after one season for a rookie QB usually isn't a good thing. And I do not like Childress at all(his ego). If Shurmur is hired by the Browns, I hope Spags would get an assistant from the Eagles.
People will play devils advocate in favor of Shurmur, to counter fan knee jerk reactions to blame O-coordinator for everything.
But 3 of the last 4 games were pretty bad -games that mattered. No game plan - 11 carries for Steven Jackson (against Seattle of all teams) is inexcusable in a game like that. Well Shurmer may say they were stacked in the box (no diff from all other teams this year) then 15-20 yard passes (behind the traffic) should have been easy pickings-even with lousy receivers.
Trouble in the Red Zone all year. 17.5 points per game is not enough. His approach may be good at times, but definitely had gone stale.
Change of coordinator for Bradford may be an issue. But he's a well-paid professional- and his adaptation to a new coordinator should be minor compared to this years jump to the NFL.

He just changed from his college coordinator to Shurmur. It's not like he knows what Shurmur is going to call before he calls it cause they've worked together for 7 years.
Heck- I'd rather have OU's coordinator than Shurmur. And I don't even know his name.
