Haha, just a Petree fan, he's a really good humble kid from Clinton.lukethedrifter wrote:Good point, Mr Petree
He went to Missouri State if you didn't know, so I saw him throw probably 10 times over his career here in Springfield.
It would be awesome for him to reach Double A and pitch in his college park, as a pro.
Probably would have been a high round pick, if not 1st/2nd if he hadn't had tommy john after HS.

He wasn't a college Senior in eligibility, he was a redshirt-Junior, but that doesn't change Petree's age of course.
He's one of those kids who will look solid in the lower minors due to his pitchability.
It's all about AA for me with Petree. That'll start to tell us what we have.

Correct, he was a senior in school and has his degree.
Him getting to Double A will be awesome, place will sell out for his return.
He'll have a bit of a leg up as well, having pitched there for the last 2 years.

Re: Miscellaneous Cardinals minor league notes
Inane story, hope you MiLB guys enjoy anyway:
Sleepy late Tuesday night after the rush died off at my bar in Manhattan. These three guys came in late-ish (maybe 1230), and were my only customers for awhile. Good guys, not drunk just lookin for a late night meal off Times Square. When it came up in conversation that I'm from the St Louis area, they kind of smirked. Turns out they are all pitchers for our affiliate State College Spikes, in the city after a game against the Staten Island something-or-others.
Got to hear a lot of fun stories about other low-A type guys they knew. Shocking news to me was that Matt Adams eats a lot. I asked if he looked like a big ol' farmboy in person or what, and they agreed that he's a big sumbidge, but no one in the minor league level system is as imposing as Holliday. Impressive - the middle seat guy of the three, Jacob Booden, was one big ass dude - I looked it up, he's 6-7 and looks nothing in person like his weird milb.com headshot). They agreed that Siegrist had the best arm they'd in camp (not sure which camp they meant) - I felt bad for being pretty in the dark about that guy. I mentioned the awesome that is GRB, and asked them for some players' opinion on who to mention as a potential riser in our system that I wouldn't have heard of otherwise. Mitch mentioned "Persons" (I had to write it down, but that's Kenneth Peoples-Walls) as a young kid who has enough raw skills to move up fast if he keeps at it. There, I'm like an insider now!!!
Anyway, if Booden, Mitch Harris, or Jeff Rauh ever make it to the big show, I will be happy to say I bought them a few beers.

Yup.
Great story! Peoples-Walls is having a great year. While I liked him, I didn't love him. He's proven to be a far better prospect than I wrote in the draft review.
The fun part is just the story and getting to converse with them about baseball.
