I'm incredibly sad that Silicon Valley is ending.
Formally, there's not much about it. Every other episode ends down, the ones between end up, the gang has to get out of a new jam every 60 minutes of air time, it's pretty cut and dried. But. It's minute-for-minute and line-for-line as funny as anything since 30 Rock. The way the opening credits change year to year and hide all the little easter eggs packs so many laughs alone. Russ Hanneman, Jared, Big Head, Jian-Yang, all are all-time top 100 regular/recurring characters in a comedy. Maybe only Arrested Development had more.

I remember my dad saying he didn't like the movie "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" because he was a business road warrior so he got no joy from travel horror stories. Silicon Valley was kinda like that for me. I'm sure it's a great show, but it hit too close to home.

Not liking Planes, Trains, and Automobiles should be illegal.Michael wrote:I remember my dad saying he didn't like the movie "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" because he was a business road warrior so he got no joy from travel horror stories. Same. The dialogue is a touch too “showy” for me at times even though I knew it would be like that, but I’ve liked the writer who runs it since Gilmore Girls.Popeye_Card wrote:Yes.Swirls wrote:Anyone else excited for the next season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to drop this weekend?

SWEET. That book is wonderful. I'm guessing they are aware of Watchmen, and what it has done with the concept of subverting superhero origin stories. There's some overlap, but I'm sure they can do it well. The Third Man wrote:Catch me and heyzeus DANCING IN THE [expletive] STREETS

Re: TV Thread - beware, [expletive] can get spoilery
I thought Seasons 2-3 got progressively more and more weird on The Man in the High Castle. I'm kind of relieved for Season 4 to be the last season because it's getting too sci-fi-ish for the original plot. I've never read the book though, so perhaps they're following along with it?
Either way, I'm a couple episodes in to Season 4 so far and it's fine so far. Perhaps a little less science fiction-y than the end of Season 3. I do think it's gone downhill considerably since Season 1.

I loved season 1. Then it seemingly took forever for season 2 to come out and I couldn't get back into it. Haven't even watched a full episode of season 2 yet, and if I'm being honest, it may not happen.

No idea if The Crown has been discussed here. We starting watching it a couple of weeks ago and are now into Season 3. I've quickly lost interest with the cast changeover. I like watching how characters change/develop over time and this is like starting over.
