see above. not so bad yet. cleared some hurdles. slightly less tired in the AM, so that helps. this back & nerve thing cutting into my activity level - an unexpected reason to carry on with it. Not exercising much, that blows more than the no booze.

Un mother [expletive] believable but I have really hurt my neck. God [expletive] damn it all to hell. This is not going to go a way on it's on. This am I did day 4 of the Armstrong pullup program, which is to do as many "training sets" as you can. I probably did 10+ sets of 4 pullups today, and it's just gotten awful through the day. I have to take at least a week off of lifting completely.

If you hurt yourself doing a biggest loser type challenge, you automatically lose, right?

Definitely injury, not old man pain. Woke up this morning and it's pretty sore. It's different than any neck thing I"ve had because I can move my neck in most directions without too much pain. It's arm movements that trigger it - raising arms, shrugging shoulders ... that just kills. Actually after testing it some this morning I'm thinking this is a shoulder injury that is causing pain up through the neck into the skull.

That is pretty crappy. The armstrong routine looked scary. Too much of one thing. But here I am using traction device

The problem is too much of one thing - but the pullup program was just the straw that broke the camels back. For the past few years I've just been lifting too much, too often. 3 upper body routines a week that are an hour each, and all have max effort burnout sets in them. I think my body just had enough.

Rest is important, and I am terrible about incorporating that into my routine. I rest when I breakdown. I will be able to keep up with cardio while this passes, but I need to take some time off and then just completely alter my lifting routine.

Did a 7 mile run this afternoon. Was told to avoid whatever hurts. Knew within minutes I was good.

If you would have seen Creed you would have ran 10. Glad to see you are back on track.

Good to here you're feeling better, Freed. Fairly quick recovery.

Looking more and more like a trip to doc for this shoulder; AC joint and some tendon stuff lateral to that. Just when I was getting into a good workout groove.

Hey freed - you must be a runner if you are doing 7 miles. How can a guy that runs 1-2 x per week (3-4miles) improve his mile time. I'm thinking I should continue to do the 1-2 runs at 3-4 miles, but maybe add a couple of interval training sessions. I don't run consecutive days very often because of old age, but I'm thinking M/W/F doing some intervals and a Saturday 4 mile run?

Any ideas on the types of intervals to do?
