i'm hitting up a ton of old
<------------"Wild Bill" Wellman..
he's easily becoming one of my favorites ever..
I've never seen anything he's done besides Public Enemy, but his filmography is pretty impressive. Wings, The Ox-Bow Incident, and Public Enemy are films that I've either wanted to see, or have seen and enjoyed.
I finally got around to watching "Metropolis". Wow.

This was actually on the shelf at Blockbuster and I remembered you mentioning it. I was surprised at the number of recognizable actors in the film. Just my opinion but the last 15 minutes or so didn't measure up to the rest of the film, which was quite good. It was certainly more enjoyable than a lot of films I've seen recently and a very solid effort, especially considering it is their first.
Glad you checked it out. I agree with you - at the end of the movie, they had to resort to some cliches in order to go for the Big Dramatic Finale. I thought a more understated ending would've fit with their aesthetic better. But still, I mean, I grew up with these guys. They struggled for like 8 years to write, raise the money for, cast, direct, and film that movie all by themselves. I didn't think it would ever actually happen, and they proved everyone wrong. I'm really optimistic for their next projects now, and not just because they're doing the screenplay and maybe directing Three Nights In August.
I actually JUST watched Se7en for the very first time and it was absolutely awesome. Brad Pitt's character was a bit forced, imo but Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey are, as usual, amazing in it.

I can't stand that movie. two contributing factors - Kevin Spacey irritates me like fingernails on the chalkboard (I know I know, thats good acting but I despise him just as much in every movie). Secondly, I'm a pansy when it comes to gross out stuff. I can read about bizarre creepy things in the news (and Leroy's posts ) but when it comes to entertainment -my tolerance is pretty low.
but more rational criticism - the chase scene -where they almost catch him was pretty weak if I remember.
And the ending - WTF?

I absolutely love gross out stuff, tbh. I love the SAW movies and [expletive] like Hostel and Devil's Rejects. I like my tolerance to be tested. I will say the chase scene was kind of weak. But once again, that's because I just didn't like Brad Pitt in this movie for some reason. The whole character was just weird. I did love the ending though. It made complete sense to me.

I've heard about Visitor Q, Cannibal, I Spit On Your Grave, etc. I'm not sure I could actually handle those. I heard Visitor Q wasn't nearly as bad as the other two, though.
Has anybody seen Watership Down? I heard it's terrifying.
