After a few beers, a brewer there challenged me to a drinking competition where we'd have 5 individual beers we had to chug in a row. We went head to head, and I won by a full beer and was timed at 23 seconds total. I won a t-shirt.
you drank 5 full beers in 23 seconds?
I'm kind of surprised that you had a chugging contest on a microbrew tour. I am definitely having a hard time believing that you drank 5 pints in 23 seconds. Taster samples maybe?
Don't think they were full pints, but judging by the size of the glasses, around 10-12 oz

He said every year they have a competition within the company and the record is 19.6 seconds which he set some years ago. He said his secret was not eating or drinking for a day and also leaving the beers out all day long so that they were warm and flat. Ours were cold fresh from the tap.

I spent the next 10 minutes holding back from throwing up until I finally let out a huge belch and felt much better.

Just went to Pi and tried their Schlafly Common beer. Very good, but it's a shame you can only get it at Pi.

I make it to Pi fairly frequently yet somehow keep forgetting to try the Common

i've had good and bad experiences with this brew...it seems a large batch was infected and it alters the taste greatly.

that being said, there are better imperial stouts out there...oskar blues' ten fidy comes to mind.

Bell's Kalamazoo Stout is awesome too.

Had 4-5 Lagunitas Brown Shugga's last night. Actually got me fairly drunk, but they're 9.9%.

the kalamazoo stout is really great, but it's more of an american stout...imperial's typically have a higher abv.

i'd say 4-5 of those should get you fairly drunk, haha...i'm hosed on a 4 pack of anything with an abv that high.

not sure you can get it in your neck of the woods but, terrapin has a limited release called Moo Hoo out right now...it's a chocolate milk stout and it's pretty damn tasty :)

Goose Island is about to release a special edition of their Bourbon County Stout that has been aged for two years in Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels that had previously been aging bourbon for 23 years. A 22oz bottle costs $45. Somebody try it and report back.
