I am enjoying it, but yeah ugh -those voiceovers. I wish they ran it with subtitles insteadHoot45 wrote:I'm halfway through it and would already agree that it is phenomenal. It took me a little while to look past the English voiceovers, but everything is so well done that I could see this show cracking in to my top 10 list if they can keep the story going.thrill wrote:Netflix's Dark is phenomenal. It's, well, dark, german, has a terrific score, is super compelling sci fi (don't want to get into specifics b/c spoilers), has plot reveals that are obvious enough you can figure stuff out before they're spelled out for you but difficult enough that you feel smug when you do, and is beyond all of those things a great representation of [expletive] up small town communities with multi-generational ties.

I'm pretty sure you can change both of those. Can in the browser version at least.Freed Roger wrote:I am enjoying it, but yeah ugh -those voiceovers. Yep - I was super excited about it, then read "voiceovers" here and was like [expletive]...but it's as simple as changing to German language with English subtitles in the Netflix settings.ghostrunner wrote:I'm pretty sure you can change both of those. Loved Season 2 more than Season 1.CardsofSTL wrote:Halfway through season 2 of Crown on Netflix. I don't know if I like the show but I can't stop watching it.

The voiceover for the Nuclear power plant guy in the wheel chair was comical.
I'm about 4 episodes in -I'm drowsy when watching - One thing I have trouble is following the family tree what current old men were which in the 86. I think there are at least 2 current old dudes
let me know if I have it right
Edit: got.it figured out

So what’s the consensus on Homeland? I really dig it. I think Danes does a great job of conveying mania. She did lose me in season 5 when she went off her meds and then snorted caffeine pills

If you like heist movies, and don't mind subtitles, you should watch La Casa de Papel on Netflix. It's about a group of people who occupy the mint in Spain. I think enough gets lost in translation(both literally to English and in cultural differences) that it's not quite a work of art, but it's real compelling TV.

Pete Holmes is an interesting guy. His podcast is unlistenable, IMO, because he's the least generous interviewer alive: wait, wait don't answer that, I'm going to make a joke and howl with laughter for a full 2 and half minutes. But he's also endearingly goofy and happy, which can be really refreshing because comics are all miserable SOBs.
His story, too, is really interesting. It plays out more or less on Crashing, which I'm really enjoying. Great for people with an interest in comedy and seeing a deeply religious guy wander off the path.
