That is a list I would be interested in seeing.
I'm not gonna lie, I can't name any others. Unless Dead Alive counts, where two zombies [expletive] each other.
There's that movie you haven't made yet about digging up youknowwho and then youknowwhat.
Once I found that youknowwho's daughter is famous and would sue the crap out of me if I even attempted to make that movie, I tabled the idea.

Watchmen-There's a million things I could say or discuss about this movie, but I'm lazy. I'll just say I thought it was mediocre. I probably need to watch it again when it comes out on DVD but at no point did I really feel like I was watching a good movie.

That's exactly how I felt, except on my end, I have little interest to watch it a second time. I suppose the bewbage and Dr. Manhattan's neater effects could be worth a netflix. I feel that the messages that were smashed into viewer's heads over and over were just way too preachy. I'm a liberal guy and I'm all for vast change to the world's energy crisis, but

I can't support 'heroes' who give cancer to women to trick their friends then kill millions of people, etc etc, instead of using his vast intellectual and financial/political power to, oh, I don't know, not become a psychopath. Machiavellianism to the extreme. Also, I'm not a religious guy, but I strongly thought they didn't need to have Manhattan say "Alright I'm gonna go be a god and make life now, ta ta" He coulda just "left to explore another galaxy" and that was that. I realize all my major beefs are regarding the original story, but whatever. Gritty is cool, advocating genocide to save a greater genocide is not cool.

I didn't say it wasn't a good movie - I definitely enjoyed it. The third time, though, with the nun appearing out of nowhere, I just thought it was comical.
There's certainly nothing wrong with laughing during a Hitchcock movie. I can't think of many of his movies that don't elicit at least some minor chuckling, especially his later films.

I went to see an old Agnes Varda movie last night, "Le Bonheur" ("Happiness"). Varda is well-known for her documentaries but early in her career she was a very under-rated contributor the French new wave movement. The plot of the film is rather simple about marriage and fidelity, but the message is pretty biting. What's special about the movie is the cinematography; she really captures the colours and mood of life in suburban and rural areas outside Paris in the 1960s. I love how she pays hommage to her heroes during the film, with posters, billboards, and snippets of films featuring icons like Jeanne Moreau, Brigitte Bardot, Louis Malle, Jean Renoir, and George Brassens. I also love how she gets you to pay a lot of attention to what's going on around or behind the main characters in any particular scene. Her use of Mozart music adds an urgency to the climax. Highly recommended to French film buffs like JL21, and to Francophiles like zheem.

Just watched Seeds of Summer, an Israeli documentary about girls just entering the army. The filmmaker Hen Lasker goes back to the unit she was in when she was 18 and where she fell in love with a woman for the first time.

I feel like someone might have mentioned this film on here somewhere (clement maybe?) but can't recall. In any event, it's really good, and for more than the aspect of watching beautiful girls shoot guns.

There's no IMDB page for it but I found this: http://www.wbff.org/films/detail.asp?fid=839

finally did "Let the Right One In".. fantastic, loved it.. it's so nice to see something
different from the horror genre. it's slow and quiet and the cast is made up mainly
of children. the feel and pacing are great and the atmosphere along with quite a few
images are just plain creepy. probably not for too many people here as it may bore
you to tears, but i loved it.. again.. it's different and it's done well..

that kinda is the whole point of the story, though. It's not there to advocate what Veidt did and it certainly doesn't label him as the hero; if anything he's the "villain" of the movie, though that grossly oversimplifies it. It just raises the issue, it doesn't say whether it's right or wrong. That's a huge part of why the book is so popular.

As for Manhattan saying that, I loved it. He was so completely disinterested with life on earth any more.

I've only seen it once, but it didn't quite click for me. I'm not sure why. It might be the changes to the ending. Some of it is the way Veidt ends up being portrayed. I'm waiting to see the director's cut on blu ray at Christmas or whatever to see it again (also, my ass won't be killing me after sitting 3 hours in my recliner vs 3 hours in a theater).

So glad you liked it. I just love this movie incredibly much. I ordered it on Amazon and should be getting it soon. Can't wait to watch it again.

The love story at the core of the movie is beautiful and terrible. Did you get the feeling that the boy will be that old man one day?

i didn't but now that you brought it up it just makes me like it more.. that's a super
tight concept that explains the old man in a much different light. i need to let
it sink in a little more.. and probably watch it a few more times to really catch everything.

a plot spoiler question for you.. and this is a big spoiler so don't click on it
