[SHOW]
the chicago suicide squad was embarrassing.
billy and max were fine, i guess, but added just about nothing.
the last 15 mins of s2 was so dumb. i was looking at the clock
i don't know how hopper kept forgettnig about El
i did also have a moment, while watching el "learn her powers", of 'ok, its the force'. i guess i knew that anyways but it seemed more obvious as i watched them film someones hand kinda moving around and then stuff was supposed to happen. i realize i'm a hypocrit as i've enjoyed this "pwoer" in comics, movies, tv shows but it just really hit me "what am i watching here?". i suppose i'm getting old

i was fooled on bob staying as a good/decent person.
i enjoyed the parallels to alien/aliens
the acting, atmosphere and nostalgia are still top notch. story was fine too, other than a few quibbles

One of the things I really like about Stranger Things is that being a love song to the 80's it has license to do silly and cliched stuff like the Snow Ball, or all the teen characters reading the revealed code in unison (that moment was so Goonies I died of joy) and get away with it. Interestingly, that's also a thing I liked about comic book movies, before they flogged that horse to death so they could ride its corpse forever into the future.

WRT to my comments above, I started watching Beyond Stranger Things with Dean Pelton, and it sounds like both Steve and Bob, were maybe not necessarily supposed to turn out good initially.
It's so much better to have characters that aren't unreasonably evil. Or if they are, at least have a good reason for it and let them evolve. If the show were any worse Billy would have been a big distraction for me.

One comparison that isn't made much is Avatar - the cartoon, not the stupid movie. Really good show with a good group of characters that all care about each other and it gives pretty equal time to everyone. It has huge stakes, but it's also very lighthearted and goofy at times. When they introduce new characters to the group they become important and have their own lives. Seems like a good show for writers to emulate. I'd say all the same about ST.

Easily the best show I learned about through my kids. Legend of Korra, the follow up, was good but more uneven.

Does anybody here watch The Good Place? I watched the entire first season but haven't been keeping up with the second so I went ahead and signed up for the free week of YouTube TV this afternoon so I can catch up on the shows that I've missed recently.

I thought the first season was really good but I'm listening to the first episode of the second season while I finish up my work and I really like how early in this first episode they are torturing the four, especially Chidi where they let him meet who he wants his soulmate to be and then rip her away and pair her with somebody else. The move putting Tahani in a tiny house was also great thanks to what was learned about each character in the first season.

I've really enjoyed TruTV programming, especially Impractical Jokers and The Chris Gethard Show. I had trouble figuring out At Home, but I could tell Amy Sedaris is super talented and I understand why someone might really like it.

I'm not all the way through season 2 yet but I'm enjoying it a ton. Season 1 invested you in the characters - it spent most of its team introducing you to everyone and learning about their past lives and personalities. Season 2 is like a study in rebooting the universe multiple times in myriad different ways to see what happens. It reminds me of that Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors episode where Homer accidentally invents a time traveling toaster, and every time they do anything in the past, it changes the future in unexpected ways. The Good Place Season 2 toys with the humans by creating different realities this way, and it's fun.
