Gorman fell farther than anticipated. You could argue St. Louis got the best high-school raw power, college raw power, and slider in the entire draft. Roberts has a chance to start, but we think he ends up as a Luke Gregerson type because the slider is too good compared to the rest of the arsenal.

I would hope they would select the top player on their board when their 1st pick came around. Otherwise, that would indicate they were flying by the seat of their pants.

Lots of teams don’t take their best player with their first pick in the hopes of signing under slot and using the savings to sway a later draft pick.
