Getting Schenn makes this sting a bit less, but if he ends up there I'm gonna be apoplectic.
So would you rather have Drouin at 5.5. for the next six years and Ryan Reaves.

Or would you rather have Schenn at 5.15 for 3 years, Sanford, and Klouin?

It's funny how in hindsight it feels like Shattenkirk screwed the team by not signing an extension, but Armstrong did a great job with the assets he did get. I still might take Drouin in the above deal, but it's a lot closer now than it felt when Shatty was shipped off to Washington.

I would take Drouin pretty easily. We'd also still have next year's 1st. Armstrong did well to get a top six player in Schenn, but Shattenkirk really threw a wrench in it.

Shattenkirk's trying to draw in bidders to drive up his price, which is certainly understandable.

This sounds harsh, but we have more forwards than roster spots, even after losing Perron and trading Reaves and Lehtera. We can certainly handle the loss of a 3rd line player. Just more time for the kids.

Lets see... Schenn, Stastny, Boat, Brodziak, Schwartz, Steen, Sanford, Paajarvi, Tank, Fabbri, Jaskin, Sundqvist (can he play wing?), Barbashev ... that's 13 so far...

You've got to be kidding. How did he get injured?

When was the last time he played a full season? (Yes, I'm too lazy to look it up.)

He hurt it during an off-season workout. He played all 82 games last season. Outside of 2 years ago when he played 42 games, his lowest total is 71. (He played all 48 in the lockout year)

Wow. I'm surprised. Maybe it's just me, but I guess I just never thought of him as that durable.

It sounds like Justin Williams is signing with the Canes. The only names I've seen the Blues linked to are Chris Neil and Chris Thorburn, which would be suboptimal.

In fairness, in the years when he was been out extensively, such as 2012-13 and 2015-16, he's seemed to be a shell of his former self when he has returned. I also thought he was concerned about his shoulder for much of 2013-14, as well.
