In the broader scheme, no. WRT when he gets drafted, it does. I still think he will, but he's definitely a Day 3 pick now.stlouie_lipp wrote:Doesn't matter. The story is already written.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Not a good combine for Sam.

It's kind of hard to do the bench press when you have limp wrists. :b

The NFL is really, really good at shredding stories though.stlouie_lipp wrote:Doesn't matter. The story is already written.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Not a good combine for Sam.

Maybe this is a completely dumb question, but why? What is the goal here?Jocephus wrote:http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... ion-playerDerrick Gordon, a sophomore starter for the University of Massachusetts men's basketball team, stepped forward Wednesday as the first openly gay player in Division I men's college basketball, sharing his story with ESPN and Outsports.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, or what.trill wrote:I don't know, let me ask him.
I mean, apparently he's tired of keeping it a secret. But there's a LOT of room to work with between keeping it a secret and announcing it to ESPN.

Perhaps as a person who has felt it necessary to hide in the past, he thinks there is value to others in announcing it publicly.

Perhaps he wants to show young kids who may be ashamed of who they are that they don't have to be. Perhaps he wants to be part of the slow destruction of stereotypes that cast gay men as effeminate and not potent athletes. Perhaps he just wants to be famous. Probably not, but it's possible though I don't see why anyone would rush to believe anyone would have wrong intentions for just being themselves.

Perhaps he wants a date.
