Alright, the more I look at it, the more I think we should target Willingham instead. If he can be had for less than Wallace, that's the deal we should do.

exactly.. UNLESS.. we can sign holliday .. then i'm fine with it.. if we're left with no
playoff run, no world series, no holliday and no wallace next year.. i'll be really bummed..

This last part is why they should do it.

I would definitely not overpay for Willingham during by far his best year. If/when he reverts back to the 115 OPS+ player that he is, he won't be much of an asset. Good player, but not at the price he'll command.

but Holliday may be our best chance at a playoff run and World Series this year.

We'd have no Wallace next year and potentially no Holliday...but we'd have two extra first round picks to make for 3 total. Compare that with this if we don't trade: no playoff run, no world series, no Holliday, only 1 1st round pick, and Wallace with no position to play with the big league club.

the more i read here the more i like the trade idea.. get it done now if you're going to do it..
we need to score some runs and win some games for our pitchers who deserve more wins..

The first round pick isn't a guarantee, but another Shelby Miller and Robert Stock would be preferable to Wallace anyway for this organization. No guarantee on any of that of course, but you get the idea.

I just really hope we don't get bent over by the A's again. Every time I see Haren pitch a piece of me dies; I don't know what I'd do if Wallace is hitting moon shots all over Oakland while Holliday is somewhere else next year after doing nothing for the Cards in September and October.

But I really do like the looks of the Cards lineup with Holliday in it. Also with Luddy and DeRosa heating up that could be a ridiculous 3-4-5-6. Easily one of the best in baseball. Add Rasmus in the mix and I think you can seriously make another run at the NL. So I'm really torn.

I also think our rotation in the playoffs would be fine. I think we'd have a solid 1-4 and you barely ever need 4 in the playoffs anyway.

He'll be hitting moonshots while playing 1b anyway. We already have a 1b that does that and I guarentee our's will still do it better than Wallace.
