another beer related story - the new greatest race horseZenyatta
[SHOW]
drinks guinness
It's a fairly ordinary training regimen. You know, she works out every few days, and just like every other horse. But there is something that she does after her workouts - she drinks Guinness with her trainer, and you can actually go out in YouTube and watch this. She has a little plastic bowl and she'll drink a pint of Guinness after her workout. She seems to love it. She slurps it right up. Maybe that's the secret to winning 17 races in a row.

I just opened my last Lake Louie Milk Stout. This makes me sad.

A restocking trip to the land of cheese and brats needs to be made soon.

Speaking of which... I should be getting some more soon.

My brother's in-laws, who are Dutch, are in town. They brought me two of these:

You can find the stupid Leffe Blonde in the States, but never ever the Brune. The Blonde is a solid beer but the Brune is one of my all-time favorites. I'll be demolishing those this weekend.

My cheesehead nephew crashed at our house recently and paid me in beer (what a good kid!). So I finally have tried New Glarus- Spotted Cow in this case. Also brought Capital -Supper Club.

Neither are my favored beer style -pale lagers I guess, but both were good treatment of beer standards which I had no trouble downing. I look forward to their other offerings and relish the spirit in which these beers were given.

Also was in So Michigan and was enjoying Bell products - Oberon, Two Hearted-both great. Bells Pale ale is just OK.

The big thumbs up goes to Three Floyds Robert the Bruce (scottish ale -a style I really like)

There is some awesome local news on the beer front recently between Civil Life Brewing to be opened by next Spring and Urban Chestnut this fall. I'm totally excited given who is behind these two enterprises.

Holy criminy, more great beer news.
More breaking news in what's become a flurry of new-brewery announcements in St. Louis: Phil Wymore, head brewer for Half Acre Beer Co. in Chicago, is moving here next month to start a microbrewery.

Wymore's brewery will be called Perennial Artisan Ales, and it'll be a family affair: He'll brew, his wife will handle marketing and sales, and his father-in-law will help keep the books. Wymore is still scouting locations, but he tells me he hopes to begin buildout by the end of the year.
St Louis is going to be one of the best beer towns in the world.
