Fivethirtyeight has Obama at +8 in PA. As Ben points out, Kerry was at +2.5 there in 2004. To account for this shift, less than 3% of voters would need to have switched parties or a similar magnitude turnout shift would be needed. Regarding this as implausible (especially given the circumstances) is a deeply cynical view. As a cynic, I'm impressed.

You're right. His questionable past relationships/decisions shouldn't be addressed. The radical views his "church" was built on (where he attended for 20 years) don't mean anything. I'm sure he didn't believe in any of it.

However you want to frame it, we already heard about it ad nauseum during the primaries. Obama addressed it and people either accepted his explanation or they did not. I'd say enough of them accepted given that he went on to win the nomination and continues to lead McCain in all the polls. Bringing it up again works well with drumming up the fervor of the rabid anti-Obama crowd, but it's a turn-off to the mainstream independent voters who are worried about the economy, foreign policy, healthcare, education, taxes, etc. McCain lost a lot of his opportunity to cut into Obama's lead wasting time talking about William Ayres and other so-called questionable associations and whatnot. McCain and Palin have their share of questionable associations as well, but the Obama campaign didn't waste time talking about them. They brought up Keating in response to the initial Ayres connection the McCain campaign tried to make, and then quickly dropped it when they saw it didn't help.

Dick Morris continually talking about his little pet online organization on Fox and constantly repeating the website where they take donations just makes him look like the sleazeball that everyone except the most partisan politicians know that he is.

BW, despite your obvious hate and incredible angst and completely over the top disdain for not only myself, but every other person on this board who doesn't agree with what you say, I seriously have no issue with you. And I truly hope that you find something that takes that hate and angst away. Even if you're miserable for the next 4 to 8 years, we'll all be better for it, which is more than anybody can say about George W. Bush's reign.

That being said, I forgive you for being so crass toward everyone. It's a stressful time. The fact that you care so much to be so forward to people shows a lot about the dedication of people in this country to their candidates.
