Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin

Where you live definitely influences your amount of paranoia about tomorrow's election. I can imagine it would be hard to fathom a close race if you live in Seattle, WA, to a greater degree than I do in St. Louis. If you live in outstate MO, even harder. Ben, I still don't understand where you're coming from and why where McCain and Obama are campaigning have anything to do with it. Obama and Biden campaigned everywhere they needed to today and it was in swing states and mostly states that voted Bush in '04.

Especially considering that the only states anyone has even HEARD in the past week are Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania with a splotch of Indiana. Those are the only states to watch, + Colorado, which I think is gone for Obama anyway.

Ok, I set out why I think the polls are way off. For the record, I don't think the polls are randomly calling people and if they are Republican hanging up on them. From what I see beyond the polling data, things aren't lining up. And telling me "no it's fine, the polls are outside the margin of error" doesn't do anything to change that.

I've said it a bunch today, but maybe all the polls are right and Obama wins big. I hope he does. But I'm done here. I'll be voting tomorrow morning, keeping track while at work, and watching when I get home.

If McCain wins tomorrow, I won't be back to tell you all "I told you so." I'll be upset. But I won't be shocked. If Obama wins, at least extend me the same courtesy. Heaven forbid someone actually think Obama might not win.

I've thought it. I've run every single scenario that I can think of, to be honest with you. But I can't figure out any way that John McCain wins without winning Pennsylvania, which just isn't going to happen. It hasn't happened in a long time and it isn't going to happen now.

I just want to know what you don't think is lining up? What exactly isn't lining up? Sorry if I seem jumpy at you, I'm just trying to figure out a line of reasoning for assuming McCain can win by nearly 200 EVs, but Obama can't?

It's been my opinion from about a year ago that if the Democratic party put a cardboard box up against the Republican party it would win, so I'd be absolutely shocked if McCain won.

I bet a guy $100 on the election tomorrow. I took Obama and he took McCain. His basis for the bet was a straw poll he saw on AOL that had McCain winning 58,000 votes to 32,000 for Obama. I didn't try to use reason with him because I like winning money.

I think you're out of luck, haltz, while still eligible in Chicago, I think the deadline to register in MO was three weeks ago. Or perhaps visit the City of St. Louis Board of Elections, www.stlelections.com.

Ugh, I think I registered when I was at the DMV here two weeks ago. Oh well.
