That rousing ovation that McCain received also takes out their second most consistent argument against Obama (his celebrity-status).

I think this pick does lend itself to some criticism of McCain's judgment because it doesn't make a lot of sense as a pick for the job of vice-president. Whether it's a good pick in terms of votes remains to be seen. When Mondale picked a relatively unknown woman for his running mate, a lot of people thought it would help him but it didn't help him at all.
I totally agree with your first point...

But because the republicans in Ohio cheered for McCain he now has celebrity status? Were they all supposed to sit on their hands?

Did you watch any of Obama's speech last night? I thought I was watching a cult meeting..
It borderline scared the hell outta me
What was "cult-ish" about it?
The crying, the chanting, etc.

All way, way, WAY, over the top..even for a DNC

The Republicans will chant, also. Bank on it.

As far as the crying...... it's because people buy into the theory that there might be some hope after all, and it makes them happy to not live in despair. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Call it cult-like behavior is about as far over the top as you can get.

Her voice isn't exactly made for public speaking. I heard she had an accent, but it's more like it breaks a little bit. Not a big deal though.

And thankfully, that's why they are called opinions

Like I said, WAY over the top, EVEN FOR A DNC..not saying chanting isn't involved..but holy hell..turn the DVR on again

EDIT: "Live in despair?"

O my god...we don't live in Myanmar (sp?)

Pat Buchanan's an idiot.
As true as that is, he absolutely loathes Barack Obama. If this was anyone else besides Palin, he'd doing backflips and throwing dirt on Obama's grave.

Right, it's having good ideas. Unfortunately, Republicans have bad ideas.
And young voters who are un-educated about the issues, when asked why they are voting for Obama, say "Because he's such an awesome speaker!"

Trust me, I work a ton with kids ages 18-25, and that's always one of the first things people say they love about Obama

That scares the crap outta me, because it shows NOTHING in the way on how he's going to lead a country

Of course it has something to do with it. Half the battle is having good ideas. The other half is convincing everyone else that they're good ideas.
Unfortunatly, he lost the first half of the battle you mentioned

He lost? Really? It's over? Wow...... that was fast.

When can I catch McCain's acceptance speach as the newly elected President?

No where did I say he lost the election, I said that he lost the battle of having good ideas

Read more carefully please

It's interesting that he thinks we've had the best convention speech ever and the riskiest VP choice ever in the space of two days.

Meh, Most people vote on crap like that. I've heard so many republicans ages 30-60 says how safe they felt when Reagan spoke, and older democrats who were claimed by JFK's persona. I have seen the people you're talking about, so you do have a point, but how about people who base an entire election on one issue (like abortion or homosexual marriages)? Which shows NOTHING on how someone will deal with healthcare, foriegn policy, economy (etc etc)?

For the record, I'm 25 and have not yet heard Obama speak. I've read his speeches and looked at his voting record. Us young liberals can think critically on occasion. ;)

We're all going to have to tame down comments like this in this thread if we want it to stay as it is. Otherwise I'm changing it to the "Snayke's railing against republicans thread" or "Strat's railing against the Messiah" and moving it to rants.

Either that or this is going to become a "you're stupid" no "you're stupid" thread.
